Some initial conclusions

Puerto Vallarta, state of Jalisco, West Coast, Mexico

  • I already sense that I don’t want to go back to a pre-flipped teaching and learning style.
  • One needs much more lead-in time to flip, especially developing video clips since if they are not done in an attractive way, they may turn students off.
  • Book one of UTS’s new learning spaces well in advance. They naturally complement the flipped classroom. (The first room I booked highlights all the problems with the traditional spatial model/ dynamic, where students are all dutifully lined up in rows as if on a conveyor belt awaiting force-fed information.)
  • If in doubt, seek advice from experts – it’s okay to admit you don’t know how to do it. Kind of like being a student again, eh?
